132 Days

So i woke up at 5:30 this morning to go diving with Joanne, Mel and two of their friends. It was really nice to know that i wasn't the only grumpy person in the car this morning. I'm really not a morning person... but once we had arrived at Bonegi 01 - the Hirokawa Maru ship wreck. The sun was just edging itself over the sea! Made it just in time for sun rise! we had to rig up and get in the water fairly quickly because everyone started work at 8 (including me) and we normally have about an hour dive... we entered the water and soon after putting our fins on we submerged and made our way down the embankment towards the wreck. As the ship started to become clear i looked over my right shoulder and saw a white fin Shark about 15meters away from us! This was the first time i had seen a shark at Bonegi 1! She was about 1.5m long! swimming so gracefully. i tried my hardest to get the attention of the other four divers but they were about 5m away in every direction and there was no time -She wouldn't be around very long- no one would believe me that we had a shark swimming amongst us! i quickly had to turn on my underwater camera and capture this untamed creature in my lense! and snap... I got her! i captured a moment in time that will never fade like memories do. this moment will stay with me for a very long time! i thought no one had seen her swimming passed us but soon after i got this frantic tug on my shoulder. it was Joe. extremely happy showing me the picture she had taken - after me :p because i know i saw her first =D after the dive Joe and i had a lil argument on who took the better photo! lol it was so funny because we both have the exact same camera and the exact same housing and everything =D

I arrived at the shop at about 7.45 - a bit behind schedule. i quickly jumped in the truck and made my way to the Heritage and Mendana hotel to pick up 6 guests and then back to the shop to get gear. Sam was supposed to come to work today as he has had the last two days off work, but didn't turn up. Once i had sized everyones gear and loaded the truck with 14 tanks - its quite a work out i must add ;) we made our way to bonegi 1 and 2.
i was really nervous because i had to give the brief and the dive profile to these tourists along with a little history lesson. This was the first time i was taking such a big group of divers out on my own. if anything had to go wrong I'd be held accountable. We made our way into the water and our assent to the wreck, making sure that everyone was comfortable before submerging deeper and deeper underwater. i had no problems at all, just had to keep try keep everyone in a group was a mission... All in all, it was an EPIC day!!

Here are some pictures taken today! i love them! hope you do too =D

SHAAAARK! =D

Nudibranch : Really small - 15mm in length and 5mm width (so hard to find) but SOOO beautiful!
